Day Centre - Mens Group

Men's Group

Why have a Men's Group?

We at Mary Seacole House acknowledge that it is often hard for men to express their feelings and/or they are not given the opportunity to do so, be it due to the cultural and social pressures placed on us.

The focus of this group is to provide an open forum in which men can discuss amongst their peers, issues which are of importance to them, be it current news event, relationships, discrimination - whatever you want.

The success of the group lies in the mutual respect that each member has for one another, ensuring that whatever is discussed is kept within the framework of the group.

The men have been involved in the planning of activities that have taken place both in and out of the centre. Some of the activities that have taken place are:

  • Golf
  • Fire Service Games
  • Health Information Group sessions
  • Walking Group
The Group for several months have also been attending the Belvedere Gym. They participate in circuit training, cardio vascular training and boxing. Each week the activities would be rotated. This activity has proved to be very popular with the Group.

Each year we organise a short break for our members. The members are fully involved in the planning and organising of the trip, last September we took a party to Centre Parcs - Sherwood Forest, and everyone had a really enjoyable time.
